Our history

ALMAB has long-standing traditions. The company has been run by three generations of one family. P.-O. Larsson became the CEO in 1986. Before him, his father, Nils, had run the company since when he took the helm from his grandfather Anders.  ALMAB celebrated its 80-th anniversary in 2008. Throughout the three generations, ALMAB engineers work in close co-operation with their customers to develop efficient and profitable solutions for green timber sorting, wood sorting and processing.


1928
ALMAB is founded by Anders Larsson together with his brothers, Lars-Gunnar and Karl, to cut and process lumber for customers from Storvik and the surrounding areas. 

1945
ALMAB becomes a supplier of sawmill machinery for Bolinders group.

1957
The very first conveyor is designed and manufactured by ALMAB.

1965
The first steel conveyor is delivered to a client

1969
The workshops become too small.  ALMAB moves and has an opportunity for significant expansion.  

1971
The first purchase order for export. Today, about 75% of products are exported.

1985
The company starts using a CAD system for engineering.

1988
An affiliate is established in Norway.

1995
Production is established in Estonia

2000
The very first sorting line with chamber sorting is designed.

2001
A sales office is opened in Finland

2003
The company becomes a co-owner of Nolyx AB which develops electric control systems for hi-tech industrial processes. 

2008
ALMAB celebrates its 80-th anniversary and the sales keep growing. The Russian market is becoming a continuously growing segment for delivery.

2012
New majority owner, Provator AB.

2012
In co-operation with Söderhamn - Eriksson and Hedlunds, ALMAB delivers a complete turnkey sawmill for Russia.
